Sometimes the need for entertainment is not satisfied by a 90-180 mins movie. For such unadulterated needs, TV shows are the perfect substitute.
In this post we'll be taking a look at some of the all time best TV series, which are high on entertainment, some of which tend to be super addictive and of course fun to watch in ones leisure time.
It is an all American list of shows, cause I personally feel no Indian soap opera or other show (till now) matches the quality of their American counterparts.
So here have a look at the list of best TV series..
The Big Bang Theory
Things are going rather smoothly in Nerd-ville when a hot waitress (wannabe actress) moves next door to two peculiar Physicists (nerds) whose lives then take a comical turn.
The lead actors, Johnny Galecki and Jim Parsons with their amazing performances and chemistry have brought about a new class of comedy for us to experience. Equal credit goes to the other main actors and the supporting cast.
The one particularly good thing that I like about TBBT, which somehow holds an added advantage over other shows is that it never seems to get too addictive. So you'll always be in control of whether to indulge in another 20 something minutes of good entertainment or not ;)
Prison Break
The 2005 hit TV series, Prison Break is a story of how a structural engineer plans the evacuation of his brother from a state penitentiary. As he feels his brother is wrongly convicted of murder and no other alternative could save him from the electric chair.
Brilliant plot, acting and screenplay are the things that impressed me. The story unfolds so cleverly with abundant twists and turns that no doubt you'll end up amazed after each episode.
Also Prison Break is hands down the most addictive TV show that I've ever seen, before you know it you'll end up watching half the season at one go (true story). So a timely notice to the readers, ONLY start watching the show when you're totally free cause otherwise you'll just end up cursing me and yourself for spending so much time on it.
Friends
No introductions required for this classic American TV series, based on the lives and relationships of 6 friends living in Manhattan (New York). One of the few all time best TV shows that had the privilege to run for 10 seasons at a stretch.
Hysterical comedy, sweet romances were the highlight attributes of the show. Many would agree with me, that Friends was largely responsible for bringing in the American TV show culture to the world, and many of us grew up watching it (like me).
It has been almost 8 years since the last season was aired on TV, but as a measure of its vast popularity Friends is still a big-hit among the youngsters. How can we forget the legendary title song, "I'll be there for you" which stands as the perfect epitome of a friendship song even now.
Lost
"Lost" is the story of a group of people who survive a plane crash on a deserted island, which they later realize is full of mysteries and secrets. What makes Lost so intriguing is the existence of multiple plots inter-related to each other, along with exceptional performances by the diverse cast.
Lost will leave you satiated for sure, with its plot packed with emotions that are high on drama, action, suspense, and even comedy at times. After seeing just an episode, you'll witness the intelligence and ingenuity of the creators of the show.
It has been termed by many critics as the best TV series ever. With each passing episode and season you would be engrossed more and more into this classic. I hope someone here in India would take inspiration from such shows and use it to make something half as good as Lost.
How I Met Your Mother
How I Met Your Mother, as is pretty much evident from the title itself, the show is about a man (in future) telling his kids the story of how he met their mother. On the other hand it can be called a happy-go-lucky tale of 5 friends living in New York.
With an episode duration of 20 mins or so, and a light comical theme HIMYM is easy on the brains. But at the same time highly entertaining with all the witty humour, and great looking and lovable cast. A special mention to Neil Patrick Harris for his amazing performance as the whimsical womanizer "Barney".
It does tend to get a little annoying that the show which is already in its 8th season, has still no signs of the "mother" yet. Moreover the sitcom with its setting in New York and story revolving around 5 friends has been compared many times to the epic show, FRIENDS.
