Okay I know many of you would be thinking that its already a week since the movie's release, but still I wanted to do this review. So pardon me if you guys have already seen the film, or if its no longer running at the theatre near you. Hope you enjoy the review :)
PLOT AND SUMMARY:
So the much awaited second half of the epic saga called "Gangs Of Wasseypur" has been released after almost a 2 month gap. Carrying on from where it left, the film does not dissapoint even with the absence of the exemplary Manoj Vajpayee. Keeping up with the positives of the previous half Anurag Kashyap is a rare genius in this bollywood fraternity. The movie starts up with good pace, and continues the same way except in between where it becomes a little two-paced with some exaggerated sequences. On the whole this second half of the film is a one man show of Faizal Khan played by "Nawazuddin Siddqui" with some brilliant inputs by supporting cast like Faizal's wife Mohsina played by "Huma Qureshi", Faizal's teenage brother Perpendicular Khan played by "Aditya Kumar", durga's son Definite Khan played by Zeishan Quadri and others.
The basic theme of revenge is carried forward in a more larger way in this half. With killings, backstabbing, plotting going on throughout the movie. The drug addict Faizal after the death of his kin takes an oath inspired by his mother of revenging their blood and transforms into a brutal force to reckon with. With the entire city of Wasseypur trembling in fear because of him and his ruthless ways. Its the journey of how he plots his revenge against the enemy MLA Ramadhir Singh. Below is a picture of Faizal Khan impressing his would be wife Mohsina in the film, their chemistry throughout the film is a fresh and interesting new take on bollywood romance.
Along with the great script, story telling, plots and twists its the actors who although are no "Salman Khan" et al in looks but they have raised the bar with their tremendous efforts blending so well into the roles of small town goons. A special mention to Perpendicular who plays a superb role, he carries a blade at all times in his mouth as his loyal weapon of attack. This lethal teenager steals, loots the local businessmen who are terrified of him.
Also as earlier said without the presence of the off beat yet amazing music composition by the young and talented "Sneha Khanwalkar" the movie would have been incomplete. In this half the tracks "Kaala Rey", "Chhi Chha Ledar", "Electric Piya" and "Moora" are some of my personal favorites. These songs fit perfectly in the film, with their diverse lyrics they are immensely entertaining.
This is a landmark film in the bollywood history with all its eccentricity. Many directors will now like to experiment with projects like this after huge success and acclaim that this movie has got. Anurag Kashyap has hit the right chords with the audience with this mature and off beat story. Still I feel the movie due to its mature subject, slangs, bloodshed and violence is not at all advisable for kids, and women.
