Sorry guys for the delayed post, its been more than a month since I posted anything because of a tight schedule and some unforeseen circumstances.
Here's starting with my list, in no specific order.
1) A Walk To Remember
The first movie on my list is this well deserved classic "A Walk To Remember". The story comprises of two teenagers played by "Mandy Moore" and "Shane West" who are virtual opposites of each other in every aspect. They fall in love while overcoming the various differences, problems and peer pressure. This may seem to you like a regular Romantic saga, but what makes this movie unique and cry-able are the unforeseen circumstances that build up in their lives after they fall for each other, involving the perils of life and death and how well they cope up with it. Plus the memorable and real life like performances by the two lead actors make the film an amazing experience. 2) Seven Pounds
Next on my list is the Will Smith starrer emotional drama titled "Seven Pounds". I would term the story, acting, cinematography and the movie on the whole as a brilliant cinematic experience. The plot revolves around the life of this person called "Ben Thomas", to begin with the movie is a tad mysterious with so many loose ends adding up the confusion. But slowly as the story unfolds you start to see who this intriguing Aerospace Engineer Ben really is and what extraordinary plans does he have from his life. The story line will keep you guessing till the end moments, a beautiful movie indeed. LINKS:Free Torrent DownloadTrailer For More Reviews/Ratings:IMDb PageRotten Tomatoes Page |
3) Kal Ho Na Ho
Shah Rukh Khan starrer blockbuster "Kal Ho Na Ho" is the next movie on my list that I feel will make you cry. Personally speaking it is one of my favorite bollywood movies. The story is based in New York, where the lives of an Indian family is brought to a happy change by the happy-go-lucky and highly optimist male lead "Aman" played by SRK. Preity Zinta plays the role of the female lead "Naina" quite beautifully who is a stubborn, pessimist girl, while Saif Ali Khan the underestimated star of the film plays Naina's good (and only) friend "Rohit". The beauty of the film is that you'll be laughing at one instance and crying at the next. The actors share a great chemistry with each other which is an important aspect. SRK is indeed the show stealer with one of his career best performance. A great script, splendid music, fabulous acting and story-telling and of course the deadly duo of Karan Johar and SRK at their best is what to expect from this movie. 4) If Only
The 2004 Romantic drama picture "If Only" is the next movie on my list. Jennifer Love Hewitt in a stellar performance playing the lead "Samantha", who is a Musician and lives-in with her boyfriend "Ian" played by Paul Nicholls. Things between the couple are not perfect as Ian is too engrossed in his business and takes his girlfriend for granted one too many times. One morning they have an argument after which the set of events take the movie to another level where fate takes a huge twist and Ian realizes the importance of her in his life. But is it too late? I won't give up the story for people who yet have to see the movie. "If Only" is a very different and moving film with strong performances, that touches upon an important subject. 5) Titanic
One of the most romantic, emotional, heart touching and moving film of all-times, "Titanic". Based on true legends this film is the brain child of the talented director "James Cameron". The story is about two young individuals who are totally different from each other yet they meet and fall in love on the ill-fated RMS Titanic which sank on its maiden voyage. Leonardo DiCaprio and Kate Winslet play the lead roles with commendable perfection. The emotions created by Cameron are so remarkable and touching that one can't help the flow of tears. It was the most expensive movie ever made at the time of the release with a budget of $200 Million and it also became the highest grosser and remained so for 12 years with total gross of $2 Billion. 6) My Sister’s Keeper
The next tear jerker on my list is this 2009 movie, "My Sister's Keeper". I found it to be one of the most touching and emotional films I've ever seen, with superb and heart warming performances by the cast. The plot revolves around an American family, the Fitzerald's. Their daughter kate is suffering from leukemia since a tender age and all their family savings and time are spent on her treatment but to no use as her health is deteriorating. Then on the doctor's advice they produce a test tube child for the sole purpose of saving Kate's life. Its a story of sacrifice, love and family emotions. If I give anything else away I won't be doing justice with you guys who haven't seen the film. "Cameron Diaz" in a new avatar plays kate's mother, and she has played the not-so-glamorous role fabulously, so has the teen star "Abigail Breslin" who plays the test tube child Anna but the best performance is definitely got to be of "Sofia Vassilieva" who plays the difficult role of the cancer suffering girl Sara. 7) P.S. I Love You
PS I Love You is one of my earliest encounters with a movie of such a genre. It is one of the best romantic comedies in a long while, that has a great love story. Hillary Swank and Gerard Butler play the lead roles spectacularly and share an amazing chemistry. PS I Love You is a love story of 2 soul mates Gerry and Holly who have been married since 9 years, and other than the small fights their lives are pretty much great until a twist in their lives which leads to an end in their relationship. Now will Holly cope up and move along with her life or will she succumb. The movie has a great supporting cast with "Lisa Kudrow" and "Lisa Gershon" playing Holly's friends are hilarious. In the end, this is definitely a film that will not only make you cry, but make you laugh as well. LINKS:Free Torrent DownloadTrailer For More Reviews/Ratings:IMDb PageRotten Tomatoes Page |
8) The Green Mile
One of my favorite actors Tom Hanks plays a senior prison guard to the prisoners on death row, in this movie "The Green Mile". The director of Shawshank Redemption "Frank Darabont" has directed this one too, with "The Green Mile" also based on the novel by "Stephen King". Everything is systematic and peaceful at the death row prison, with the last mile before the prisoner's execution called the Green Mile. But things start to change with the entry of a new prisoner John Coffey played exceptionally by Michael Duncan (who recently passed away), a black gentle giant who is convicted of rape and murder charges to two children. But can a man in possession of special powers who is so gentle, kind at heart do such a heinous crime? To find out you have got to see the movie, which a little over 3 hours is totally worth the long duration. LINKS:Free Torrent DownloadTrailer For More Reviews/Ratings:IMDb PageRotten Tomatoes Page |
9) Eternal Sunshine Of The Spotless Mind
Eternal Sunshine Of The Spotless Mind is a very strange but at the same time its quite a wonderful film. Jim Carrey and Kate Winslet have left their typecast behind and have delivered fantastic performances in this one-of-a-kind Romantic Sci-Fi Drama. They play the roles of complicated lovers Joel and Clementine, and share great chemistry. A totally original concept, the story revolves around the couple featuring a selective memory erasing procedure (something we all secretly wish for). The original music score, the acting, cinematography, and direction all of these aspects will win your hearts for sure. 10) Rang De Basanti
"Rang De Basanti" is a classic example of Indian cinema at its brilliant best. The gifted director "Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra" along with the whole team have weaved their magic and given us a complete package in the form of RDB. The movie has it all from commercial entertainment to a great and vital social message, from melodious humour to tear jerking moments, from exemplary performances by the cast to magnificent music compositions by AR Rahman. RDB is indeed a thought provoking film, especially for us - the youth and future of the country. It does not have even a single dull moment. It instills in you a strong feeling of patriotism, which doesn't fade away easily. I consider the role of "DJ" to be Aamir Khan's best ever, with equally great performances by other members of the cast. All in all a MUST WATCH movie. 11) Million Dollar Baby
Number 11 on my list is the 2004 Academy Award winner for Best Motion Picture of the year, "Million Dollar Baby". The veteran superstar Clint Eastwood has directed and acted in the film alongside the female lead played by the immensely talented Hilary Swank. This film is about boxing, but more than the sport it is about relationships, simplicity of truth, and values. Eastwood plays the role of Swank's coach "Frankie Dunn", he trains her in boxing skills as well as with discipline for the sport. The skilled actor, Morgan Freeman plays the role of Eastwood's right-hand man "Eddie Scrap-Iron Dupris" in his old and weary boxing gym, Morgan has also won the coveted Oscar for his supporting role. While Swank claimed her second Oscar with her portrayal of "Maggie Fitzgerald's" role which she has played to perfection. Indeed the film is one of Eastwood's many masterpieces. 12) The Notebook
The next tear-jerker on my list, is "The Notebook" released in 2004 is the adaptation of a novel by "Nicholas Sparks". The film is simply among one of the most beautiful romantic movies I've ever seen. Young and versatile actor Ryan Gosling and the beautiful Rachel McAdams play the lead roles of "Noah" and "Allie" quite convincingly with amazing chemistry. The story-line is not similar to other usual monotonous Romantic movies, rather it is filled with twists and turns, that would keep you guessing till the end. The depth and detail with which the story is told is amazing. And it all contributes towards an emotionally heavy yet beautiful ending. The exceptional and real life like depiction of feelings and emotions will leave most of you with moist eyes. Although a little long, but "The Notebook" is definitely a movie not to be missed. 13) Philadelphia
Next on the list we have a Tom Hanks classic, "Philadelphia". The movie throws light on the sensitive issue of discrimination against Homosexuals in the American society. The film superbly describes a shocking and touching tale of "Andrew Beckett" played by Hanks, a hardworking and talented lawyer (who happens to be a homosexual) in a renowned firm who gets infected by AIDS and is fired from his job without a plausible reason. It is the story of a diseased gay man's struggle against the biased firm and in turn against the society who see Homosexuals in a bad light. Denzel Washington plays the role of "Joe Miller" a homophobic lawyer, who takes a conscious decision to represent Beckett in court. Hanks for his fantastic real-life like portrayal of Beckett bagged his first much deserved Academy Award. Watch the movie for its noble cause of humanity, for the strong performances and direction by Jonathan Demme. 14) 50/50
The most recent movie in my list of tear-jerkers is the 2011 film, 50/50. The movie is inspired by a true story, the reason why I liked it and why I've included it is due to its very distinct and interesting comical take on such a serious and touching subject. The young gifted actor Joseph Gordon-Levitt plays the lead role of "Adam", the always so funny Seth Rogen plays the role of his best friend "Kyle". It is the story about the circumstances and situations that arise in the life of Adam when he shockingly discovers his back pain is actually due to terminal cancer. The turn of events that follow the news and how it effects his relationships in day to day life with his closed ones, and also the new relationships that are formed are all intriguing to witness. The movie is a mixed bag of emotions and feelings, which change from serious to comical to emotional. LINKS:Free Torrent DownloadTrailer For More Reviews/Ratings:IMDb PageRotten Tomatoes Page |
15) Passion Of The Christ
The final movie on my list, is the 2004 Mel Gibson film, "Passion Of The Christ". It is the detailed depiction of the atrocities that were executed on Jesus Christ in his final hours. The movie focuses on the final 12 hours period and the crucifixion of Jesus, after he declared himself to be the son of god. The scenes are so believable, the violence so real, that they appear to take place in your very presence. Due to the sheer brutality of the intense violent scenes, I would advice the weak hearted to give the movie a pass. All in all a great cast, Jim Caviezel gave a powerful performance as Jesus, amazing cinematography are there to be witnessed in this realistic take on the final hours of Jesus Christ.
